You may have never seen one, but angels are always around you and may help you more than you know.
A Culture of Angels
When you think about it, in our culture angels are normal.
If you hear someone mention an angel during your day, you probably don’t think much about it. If someone is sweet, you may hear an adult say, “you’re such an angel.”
You’ve probably seen a cartoon where an angel sits on a character’s shoulder encouraging them to do something good, while the devil sits on the other shoulder tempting them to do something bad.
When we’re young, many of us have probably been told that we have a guardian angel. And when someone escapes something treacherous, it would not be uncommon for someone to say, “you must have a guardian angel.”
But have you ever seen an angel? Have you ever encountered one? Your answer is probably “no”.
Think again.
What Purpose Do Angels Serve?
It’s written that angels can do many things – they can bring messages, they can protect, they can deliver someone from danger, they can minister to someone in need, and on the flip side they can deliver punishment.
They seem to have many different roles and are in service to God to carry out tasks for His people.
Certain people who claim to be able to see the spirit realm see angels everywhere.
Blake Healy is one such person. If you read his books or watch a video of him you will hear him say that everyone has a personal angel that stays with them from the day they are conceived to the day they die. He sees them interact with people throughout the day – encouraging them when they are down, calming them down when they are angry.
Many normal people claim to have seen angels. Just search YouTube and you’ll come up with tons of videos of people giving amazing stories of how angels intervened in their lives.
I am one such person with a story of an experience with an angel.
My First Experience with an Angel
The first time I experienced an angel was at a time when I was apart from God.
It happened when I was in bed, lying on my side in agony, wanting to break free from what I can best describe as an invisible prison.
I needed help – supernatural help, and I didn’t know what to do. I am not entirely sure why I said what I did, but I silently cried out in my mind, “God, please send an angel to take this pain from me!”
Instantly, and I mean instantly, I felt a presence behind me. I quickly became alert – my eyes wide open, feeling that there was someone behind me.
Then I felt it – warmth. It started at my back and spread forward, throughout my body – warmth that took away all the pain. Once it filled me, the presence left, and I was at peace.
I don’t know that an angel would show up any time I ask. But at a critical time in my journey, when I needed one, he was sent.
How to Angels Fit in the World
It is written that angels are not to be worshiped, so you would not pray to an angel. God created the angels before people. They are intended to serve God, but in their service, are sent to those who will inherit salvation.
I believe that no matter who you are, no matter where you are, no matter what you are doing, there is an angel with you – a protective friend who loves you.
My angel is reminding me of his presence even as I write this. I can tell by the feeling on the back of my neck and around my head.
When you seek a relationship with God and become more aware of His kingdom, you will sense angels as well.
